It was reported today that President Obama’s advisors
plan to remove such terms as ”Islamic terrorism” from a document outlining nation security strategy.Strangely enough, it was also brought to the attention of the American people today that earlier this year Obama ordered a hit on an American-born Muslim cleric, Anwar al-Awlaki.
BBC News reports:
The cleric, who is a US citizen, is being targeted for his involvement in planning attacks on the US.
Mr Awlaki was linked to the attempted bombing of an airliner bound for the US and a shooting on a US Army base.
US officials have warned that Yemen is becoming a safe haven for al-Qaeda militants.
The BBC’s Steve Kingstone, in Washington, says it is highly unusual for the CIA to be given approval by the president’s National Security Council to target a US citizen.
The order was made by the Obama administration earlier this year, but it has just been revealed after a review of national security policy.
A U.S. official told the New York Times:
Awlaki knows what he’s done, and he knows he won’t be met with handshakes and flowers. None of this should surprise anyone.
But it does surprise those of us who thought Obama’s leadership on terrorism was weak—at best.
However, with his latest nuclear strategy stunt, I’m not so sure he’s showing the American people competence in the area of national security.
Vowing not to use nukes against other nations, who do not possess them, is a silly idea and opens the door for hostile nations to take advantage of our leniency.
Obama seems to be sending mixed signals on national security and ultimately leaving us feeling more confused than secure about his policies.
